Who will actually receive this announcement?

How targeting works, and why you can only address parts of the school you're responsible for.

  1. 1

Before you publish, you choose an audience: the whole school, one division, one level, or one class. The composer shows you the recipient count for exactly that audience before anything goes out.

  2. 2

You can only address parts of the school within your own role's responsibility. A class teacher can address their own class; a Head of division can address their whole division. Trying to reach beyond that is blocked, not just hidden.

  3. 3

A parent only ever sees a post if one of its audience rows matches one of their own children's classes — this is enforced at the data level, not just in what the screen shows, so it can't be bypassed by the interface.

  4. 4

If you need to reach several specific classes rather than a whole division, you can pick multiple audience entries on the same announcement.
